The Golden Mile

The Golden Mile, Marbella is an area located west of Marbella town along the main Carretera CN 340, Avda. Bulevar Principe Alfonso von Hohenlohe to Puerto Banus a distance of approximately 6 km. The Golden Mile, name traditionally was referring to the land that bordered this road down to the beach and the land that fringed the north side of the road. Today however, many people refer also to land that recedes into the foothills of La Concha.

The land on the beachside of the road is the most exclusive and expensive land in Marbella and the prices of super luxury villas front line to the beach cannot easily be valued other than by what people are prepared to pay. Some of these large luxury villas, front line beach can be priced up to €80million and luxury apartments on the Golden Mile, can also sell for €5million.

Buying Property on the Golden Mile, Marbella

On the Golden Mile, there is a promenade along the whole length of the Golden Mile from Marbella to Puerto Banus, where people can stroll, run and cycle and is a very popular area for all forms of exercising activities, as well as having a peep at the luxury villas which can be easily seen from the promenade. In addition to this there are numerous beach clubs and chiringuitos, (beach restaurants) mainly specialising in traditional fried fish and paellas.

There are four luxury hotels located on the beach front of the Golden Mile with the Marbella Club and the Hotel Puente Romano being the most exclusive hotels in Marbella where lunch at their beachfront restaurants can set you back anything from 100€. The Melia Don Pepe and the Coral Beach Hotel are the others for the more humble of tourist who want to stay in this prestigious area.

As well as the exclusive luxury beachfront villas that are owned by billionaires such as Alan Sugar and Shipping magnate John Fredriksen there are luxury beach front apartments namely Los Granados, Playa Esmeralda, Oasis de Banus, Oasis Club, Marina Puente Romano, Las Cañas Beach, Alhambra del Mar, Marina Mariola and Gran Marbella.

Directly next to the Marbella Club Hotel there is an exclusive private estate of luxury villas, Santa Margarita, which is the second most expensive address in Spain. At 20,000 euros per square metre it makes it the 13th most expensive address in Europe.
